Kindergarten artists looked at the self portraits of MC Escher, Frida Kahlo and and Vincent Van Gogh. We noticed how they looked, but also what they were wearing, what they were holding and what was in the background. All of these details provided us with clues as to what these artists liked to do. Using mirrors to help us draw from observation, we drew ourselves over the course of two weeks. Around the perimeter of our drawings we added some text about our families and things we liked. Some students chose to add texture to their hair with yarn.
